Angel Falls in Venezuela. Angel Falls is the tallest waterfall in the world. His height - 978 meters. The waterfall originates from the top of the flat mountain Auyan Tepuy and located in remote jungles of Venezuela. Hiking trails to this point does not exist.
The waterfall was discovered in the early 20th century, the researcher Ernesto Sanchez La Cruz, but was not widely known until the flight of James Angel. For the first time I saw Angel Falls in 1933 when the area flew in search of ore. Four years later, Angel was flying past the waterfall with three passengers on board, including his wife. The plane was poverzhden, and Angel had put it on the mountain peak Auyan-Tepui, the top of the waterfall. Monoplane "Flamingo" has landed on the swampy land at the top of the falls and stayed there for 33 years, until he got there by helicopter.
Angel and his three companions managed to descend the waterfall and back to civilization in 11 days. In honor of this heroic event waterfall was named after the pilot. Currently, Angel aircraft is in a museum in Maracay, and on top of it is an exact copy.
