Thia Megia

Thia Megia, Jacob Lusk praised on 'America Idol's Motown episode - which contestant will be eliminated?

Thia Megia heated up the "American Idol" stage on Wednesday, March 23, with her rendition of the 1963 fast-paced hit "(Love Is Like A) Heat Wave" as the remaining 11 contestants performed during "Motown Week."
Megia, 16, earned praise from the judges after appearing to bore them the previous week with her cover of the ballad "Colors of the Wind," from the soundtrack of Disney's "Pocahontas."

"It was great to see you let loose like that," judge Jennifer Lopez told Megia. "Who knew you had that in you? I didn't."

Meanwhile, Jacob Lusk, 23, earned a standing ovation for his rendition of the 1968 song "You're All I Need to Get By" by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.

Judge Steven Tyler rushed up on stage and hugged Lusk following his performance.

"I am honored, honored to be in your presence," Tyler said. "You make me cry when you sing."

Randy Jackson called it "the best performance on this entire stage on this entire history of the show."

Among the other highlights of the night - Pia Toscano's cover of "All In Love Is Fair" and James Durbin's performance of "Living For The City." Both songs are from Stevie Wonder.

The other remaining contestants are Lauren Alaina, Stefano Langone, Haley Reinhart, Scotty McCreery, Paul McDonald and Naima Adedapo.

Last week, Karen Rodriguez was eliminated from the hit FOX reality series. On Thursday, March 24, a contestant is expected to be voted off the show. Also, season Three finalist and Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson, as well as country music duo Sugarland, are scheduled to perform on stage.

The judges have the power to save from elimination a person deemed to have gotten the lowest number of votes. They can only exercise this option once, after a unanimous decision, and only until only five contestants remain in the competition. If a finalist is saved, the two contestants who receive the lowest number of votes will be axed on the following elimination episode.
